Infections cause an overload of the immune system. This damages the spleen in the long term. Kidney dysfunction and impaired liver function follow. Organ dysfunction and infections often become visible through digestive disorders. If only the symptoms are treated, for example with painkillers, sedatives or digestive aids, then the symptoms can become chronic. These include sleep disorders and other psychological effects - even depression.
Infections, especially with pathogenic yeasts of the Candida species and with bacteria such as Helicobacter pylori, can be part of the causal chain of chronic sleep disorders - as a result of interactions between infections and organ dysfunction. If the sleep disorders have an impact on the performance of the organs, this promotes immune deficiencies and susceptibility to new or further infections.
Our current publications provide comprehensive evidence of this connection for the first time. Normamed sees the combination of modern Western medicine with traditional Chinese medicine and microbiological laboratory knowledge as the basis for successful treatment of sleep disorders. The studies now available, carried out over a period of four years, confirm many years of practical experience. If the causes of sleep disorders are treated, chronic illnesses can be avoided.
From the perspective of modern Western medicine, the study shows that 92 percent of 166 patients observed with chronic sleep disorders had digestive problems. 79 percent suffered from infections and 70 percent had organ dysfunction. In 77 percent of the patients, the digestive problems were noticeable to severe. Infections with pathogenic yeasts were found in 70 percent of the patients, infections with H. pylori in 24 percent and mixed infections in 17 percent. In addition, TCM diagnostics found cumulative organ dysfunctions, i.e. disorders of the kidneys (in 95 percent of the patients), the liver (in 58 percent), the spleen (in 42 percent) and the heart (23 percent). In combination, weaknesses were observed in the kidneys and liver (27 percent), kidneys and spleen (20 percent), kidneys and heart (ten percent); kidneys, spleen and liver (18 percent), kidneys, liver and heart (ten percent) and kidneys, spleen and heart (two percent).
Monitoring of the subsequent treatment showed that the success of treatment through integrated causal medicine depends on good patient cooperation over a longer period of time. Of 90 patients with good treatment cooperation, 87 percent experienced good to very good improvements in sleep; of 23 patients with limited cooperation, only 35 percent experienced good to very good improvements.
The health system encourages patients to focus less on treating the causes than on treating the symptoms: they are looking for a quick solution. But chronic sleep disorders often show that this is not possible. However, rapid and lasting success can be achieved by treating the causes. This is the case when digestive disorders, infections and weakened organs are recognized and treated early on in their interactions.
